The Pink Bimba Scooter is made at the he Pasteltoys wooden toy factory in Israel, in a community for adults with special needs called Kishorit. The factory is staffed by 30 of the community’s residents, among them members that are diagnosed with schizophrenia, personality disturbances, and other mental and physical challenges.

According to the Kishorit web site, “Working helps members develop attributes of exactitude, concentration, manual labor, perseverance, control and individual considerations.”

The wooden Bimba scooter retails for approximately $95.
