Bonegirl and her new Buddy scooter seat cover

scoot|pink reader Angie/Bonegirl is now sporting a new bone-covered scooter seat cover on her Buddy. I saw the fabric and just had to make it for her. While I didn’t expect anything in return, she graciously made the offer to donate its value to Kaleb’s fund, which is a savings account for my grandnephew who is fighting medulloblastoma. Thank you Angie!

Unfortunately, Bonegirl’s also sporting a thumb splint in the photo, one of the drawbacks of driving a bazillion miles on her beloved scooter. Please send get-well karma her way.

Scootin’ for a Cure

I’m really proud that my company can play a part of Linda Quinn’s Scootin’ for the Cure. I made Linda and her co-rider Karen each a pink-ribbons-with-hearts scooter seat cover for their trip. Linda and Karen will be making a 6,000 mile trip across the US on their Vespa GTS scooters to help raise money and awareness for their participation in the Breast Cancer 3-Day in November. The journey starts today as Linda and Karen head to Tahoe for the Royal Bastards Scooter Club rally, so follow it on the Scootin’ for the Cure blog.

Here’s Linda’s “Rosie” all loaded up for a test run. Be sure to keep an eye on her blog for updates.

Cynthia Price of San Francisco sent me these two photos, highlighting her love of pink accessories and gear (not to mention a super cool purple snow leopard scooter seat cover).

Accenting her plum Vespa LX are a pink jeweled Hello Kitty window cling from Target, a pink silhouette of a woman holding a helmet, and a charming miniature pink bicycle basket on the back.

Her pink gear includes a HJC CL-SP Type O helmet (she writes, “I bought it after reading about it on girlbike…”) and a pink Cortech LNX jacket.

I just had to share this photo of a custom scooter seat cover that I made for a customer recently. Jan sent me this fabric – a polyester fleece – and it was a perfect choice for a cover for her Vespa GT. I hope she’ll also send in a photo of it on her scoot.

1979 Vespa 50 Special – Miss Vicki

This is a post that was originally on girlbike.com back in April of 2005. A reader, Michael Ellens of Florida, sent me a series of photographs of “Miss Vicki,” a 1979 Vespa 50 Special he rebuilt as a gift for his girlfriend.
