another not-pink scooter item: The Armadillo Scooter Wear Scarlet Mac

Ok, so it’s not pink, but this has to be the cutest armored jacket I have ever seen: The Armadillo Scooter Wear Scarlet Mac. I heard about it thanks to Chelsea at Scoot Richmond, who wrote about it in her store’s newsletter. I wrote to ask her more about it, and she reports:

ADORABLE. OMG. Everyone that puts it on looks amazing.

Sizing is much less generous than the parka. Apparently the parkas are made with Northern Europeans/English in mind, and the macintosh is more for the Southern European tiny girls. That applies to the weather that it is appropriate for as well. It does not have a removable liner, and as such is basically a spring/fall/wet summer day jacket. Definitely not warm enough for all winter use unless you were in a snowsuit underneath.

Decent waterproofing combined with ingenious button placement will keep the wearer dry in most weather. I wouldn’t test it out in a deluge or anything.

The length is REALLY nice, especially when combined with a wet seat.

The sleeves have thumbie holes in the knit cuff, hooray! The real sleeve of the jacket almost covers that bit up, but it’s a nice feature to keep cold air from blowing up your sleeves and such.

Did I mention that’s it’s adorable?

searching for pink goggles

I got a special request from a pink scooter riding reader, Jessica, to find a pair of pink goggles for her and her pink scooter riding friend Angie. Not an easy task, since most goggles that are made for summer wear are only those made for motocross/dirt biking, and not a lot of those come in pink in adult sizes. I found these super cool (literally and figuratively) pink goggles, the Oakley XS O Frame MX Goggles that have top reviews and a reasonable price of $29. I was surprised that Bobster only makes one pair of goggles in pink. The writeup says they will fit those with small faces. I’ll keep looking!

I’m a big fan of the Garmin Nuvi series, thanks to my scooter friend Wendy who let me borrow her Garmin 260 and immediately turned me into a convert. I’m the proud owner now of a Garmin Nuvi 360, but it’s a pretty good bet that if I’d known that Garmin made a special edition Garmin Nuvi 250 in pink, I would have gone this route instead.

The suggested retail price for this unit is $299.99. I found the pink Garmin Nuvi 250 on sale over at Tiger GPS for $179.99, and at Amazon for $168.

My first thought: “Cute scooter!”

My almost immediate second thought: “GET SOME FRICKIN BOOTS ON!” Pleaseohplease don’t ever ride your scooter with little flip flops on, or anything less than foot/ankle protecting boots, even when riding a super cute pink Vespa. There’s a reason people do that – they like having toes.
