Louise sent me this photo of her riding her Bolwell Mio. She sent me this subtle hint:

“Here is a pic of me and my scooter. I just found your website and I love your scooter seat covers, I hope you will one day have the Bolwell covers on there so I can get one for my scooter Sally. We have been together for only a couple of months… we get lots of stares on the streets of Sydney….  I would love her to have a pink leopard skin seat cover.”

scoot|pink reader Angie/Bonegirl is now sporting a new bone-covered scooter seat cover on her Buddy. I saw the fabric and just had to make it for her. While I didn’t expect anything in return, she graciously made the offer to donate its value to Kaleb’s fund, which is a savings account for my grandnephew who is fighting medulloblastoma. Thank you Angie!

Unfortunately, Bonegirl’s also sporting a thumb splint in the photo, one of the drawbacks of driving a bazillion miles on her beloved scooter. Please send get-well karma her way.

“I am the very proud new owner of a Qlink Star 50. I won it at a raffle drawing at the local fairgrounds. It was a fund raiser for the Mifflinburg Fire Department. Now I’m looking for other scooters to ride with in my are (Central Pa.) Just thrilled to find your website.

Wow, Leanne, congratulations on your win! I know there are a couple of scooter clubs in the Wilkes Barre/Scranton area, but I’m not sure if that’s close to you. I hope other readers in your area might leave you a note here.

Meet Dana and her pink 1974 Vespa Primavera. I first read about Dana and her scooter in an article about the Westenders scooter club in the West Seattle Herald. I wrote to the club and finally was able to hook up with Dana and ask her to send a photo or two, and she wrote to me that she has two pink scooters (how lucky can a person get?). Unfortunately, right around the time she was about to send me photos, Dana went down on a grated bridge and both she and her pink scooter Jezebel suffered some damage. Thankfully, Dana only needed a few stitches, she said, and the Primavera is repairable. Please help me in sending both Dana and Jezebel some get well wishes.

“My name is Tanya and I run a small Modern Scooter group out of Portland, Oregon. We meet once a month and have very intimate rides to where ever. I mean, all of Oregon is beautiful. A friend alerted me to your site and it rocks.  Here is my pink Vespa ET4 2005. I have done quite a bit of mods too it and am still doing more, here’s a list:

PAINT:  The paint is the original pink that Piaggio first used in the 50’s when they first started making the Scooter.  I had opaque added to it so that it would sparkle in the sun.  Also, had little black polka dots added to match my favorite shirt.  You can’t see the dots unless you’re standing right next to the bike.  It’s awesome!

RIMS:  I had the original rims custom chrome dipped and added a spinner that I designed to fit the bike.  These things gleam and spin while I ride.

SEAT:  I bought a custom lowered seat as I couldn’t get a full foot on the ground. This seat gives me about an inch and a half of play as I have short legs…hee hee.

LIGHTS:  All the original lights have been replaced with the Euro lights.  Instead of the yellow lights, they are white with a yellow bulb.  This gives a sharper looking finish to the bike.  Makes the color flow a little nicer.

SHIELD:  I added the small clear windshield to the front of the bike to block some of the wind that hits the bike, but mostly for curb appeal.

SPEED:  I have the ET4 Molossi kit that goes to this bike.  I haven’t put it on the bike yet as I am waiting to put the new exhaust on at the same time.”

Tanya also wanted to reiterate that she didn’t rider her scooter in the heels she’s wearing in the photo; they were worn for the photo shoot (a ‘Sexy Scooter’ layout in the local newspaper, Willamette Weekly).

I’d like you to meet my roving reporter and good friend Omily, proudly modeling her Cortech Womens LRX Series 2 Jacket and Z1R Strike Star Helmet. One of the reasons she chose this particular Cortech jacket is because it was one of the few women’s jackets she could find that is available in tall sizing. It also has plus size versions available. Oh, and it’s pink.

I read about Patricia and her pink scooter on the Weekly Volcano web site, where she was dubbed a “zealous nut on a pink motor scooter.” They also credit her with social-connection superpowers. Of course, I had to ask her if I could put her photo up on scoot|pink.

Patricia Lecy-Davis is the proprietor of Embellish Tacoma, a ‘multispace’ salon in downtown Tacoma, Washington. She is also the president of Tacoma’s Downtown Merchant’s Group that is stimulating a ‘buy local’ campaign with other neighborhood organizations, which was the inspiration behind the article.
