scoot|pink reader Angie/Bonegirl is now sporting a new bone-covered scooter seat cover on her Buddy. I saw the fabric and just had to make it for her. While I didn’t expect anything in return, she graciously made the offer to donate its value to Kaleb’s fund, which is a savings account for my grandnephew who is fighting medulloblastoma. Thank you Angie!

Unfortunately, Bonegirl’s also sporting a thumb splint in the photo, one of the drawbacks of driving a bazillion miles on her beloved scooter. Please send get-well karma her way.

Angie (AKA Bonegirl) dropped me a note with a link to her latest Flickr album, along with the announcement that she’s hit the 25,000 mile mark on her pink Genuine Buddy. She passed this mark during a recent riding vacation in the Tsali Recreation Area near Robbinsville, NC.

Just in case you missed it, she’s shared her 19,000 and 20,000 mile marks with scoot|pink readers. Thanks again, Angie, for sharing your milestones with us!

Now, this is dedication to the sport. Alyssa Tucker doesn’t own a pink scooter, but she loves them enough to be photographed with them on a regular basis, hoping that her husband will become convinced that she needs one. This photo speaks for itself: 20,000 miles! Angie “Bonegirl” sent me the news that she and her Buddy, first featured on scoot|pink on June 9, hit the 20,000 mile mark on June 29. Here’s the Flickr photostream celebrating the event. Congratulations Angie! Of course, by the time I hit the ‘publish’ button, I’m sure you’ve already put on a few hundred more miles.

We’re looking forward to you meeting that 24,000 mile goal.

“Not sure where to begin because my pink Buddy just turned 19,000 miles in less than 2 years. That’s a lot of scooting! I am an x-ray tech in Cincinnati, Oh. I have been specializing in Bone Density Testing (DEXA scans for osteoporosis evaluation) the last 7 years. Needless to say, my nickname is Bonegirl, on all the scooter/motorcycle sites.

“Deathly afraid of motorcycles, mostly due to what I have x-rayed in my occupation, my husband convinced me to ‘go along just for the ride’ because he wanted to look at a scooter. Our first stop was Metro Scooter in Cincinnati and I came home that day with the 2006 Genuine Pink Buddy! Had no idea how to ride the thing but he wanted to buy a scooter and I didn’t want to be left out. I took the MSF Course on the Buddy and the rest is history. I admit I wear all the gear, all the time. It’s summer and folks always want to know if I’m hot. My husband’s answer is ‘I’d rather sweat than bleed’; works for me.

“The jacket is a Cortech LRX. It is what I wear now in the winter because it has the quilted liner as well as waterproof. The helmet in the photo is a Vega Altura full face but I recently switched to a better helmet (wore that one out!). Gloves are also Cortech mesh summer gloves. I didn’t have my riding pants on in the picture because we were just next to our hotel snapping some pics.”
